Foster Care
The Foster Care Program is made up of volunteers who offer temporary care for PHS/SPCA companion animals when they no longer require immediate veterinary supervision or behavioral evaluation but are not quite ready for adoption. Foster parents temporarily house shelter animals to help them become more adoptable; they help animals under the weather or recovering from injuries, work on specific challenging behaviors in their home setting, or simply provide a stress-free area for animals having a difficult time coping at the shelter. Each of our Foster Care Providers participates in an interview and training process that prepares them for this work. All Foster Care Providers must be 18 years old or older.
Check out our available Foster Care Animals HERE! If you see an animal you’d like to foster, please follow the instructions included with each animal description.
If none of the available animals featured seem like a good fit, but you would like to be added to our Foster Care Program, please fill out the Foster Care Application.
