Euthanasia Services
Choosing to put a loved companion animal to sleep is incredibly difficult. If you have made that choice, we encourage you to bring your animal to PHS/SPCA’s shelter at 12 Airport Blvd. (Coyote Point) in San Mateo, where we promise to provide a humane, dignified ending. Hours are 11 am to 7 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 6 pm on weekends.
If a pet has identification (a microchip, license, etc.), please allow extra time for our staff to research that information. Vet records and/or adoption records will help expedite this process. We request to bring in all pet’s documentation—such as licensing, medical records, microchip records, adoption records—to assist them faster.
Due to staff shortages, we can only offer one owner-present euthanasia per week and only on Thursdays at 10:30 am. Please call us at 650-340-7022 ext. 675 for more information.
The County of San Mateo sets all euthanasia fees and receives all proceeds from the euthanasia services we provide. These fees are:
- Dog/Cats $50.00
- Bird/Fowl$15.00
- Other/Reptile $25.00
- Small Animals/Rabbits $30.00
- Farm Animals $100.00
We also offer communal and private cremations. Private cremations are an additional cost; feel free to inquire at our shelter for pricing.
