We depend on the support of community members and animal lovers to help us provide for local animals in need. Donations support these programs and more.

Hope

Many animals need extra medical care, behavior modification, or TLC before they can be adopted into a new forever home. Our Hope Program provides that, saving an average of more than 200 animals every month.

Spay/Neuter Services

To help in the fight against pet overpopulation, we alter all dogs, cats and rabbits before they go up for adoption. We also offer low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to local pet owners.

Cruelty Investigations

Our Humane Investigators respond to every report of animal abuse, cruelty, and negect in San Mateo County. We are equipped to advocate for vulnerable animals, give dedicated care, and provide critical investigative work that helps hold those responsible accountable.

Kitten Nursery

Our Kitten Nursery Program helps hundreds of underage, motherless kittens each year, so they can grow big and strong. These kittens need weeks to months of care, because they can’t yet eat on their own and have underdeveloped immune systems.

Adoptions

Our skilled Adoption Counselors find loving homes for thousands of animals each year: cats, dogs, rabbits, Guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, farm animals, and many more.

Humane Education

We offer varied and unique education programs for all ages to promote healthy relationships between people and animals..

Pet Food Bank

Hundreds of local dogs and cats receive food from our Pet Food Bank, helping these pets stay with their loving families while they are facing financial hardship.

Pet Assisted Therapy

Our Pet Assisted Therapy teams visit libraries, schools, healthcare facilities, drug rehabilitation centers, correctional facilities, and more to
provide positive interactions and help lessen anxiety, depression, and loneliness.

Please note: No national-sounding organizations provide us any financial support. The ASPCA (which is actually a local humane society for Manhattan in New York City), Humane World for Animals (formerly HSUS), and Best Friends Animal Society (Best Friends) are known for their work on behalf of animals, but they do not provide any direct care for animals here on the Peninsula.
