Photographer Volunteer

SUPERVISOR: Communications Manager 

GOAL OF POSITION: To photograph adoptable animals on a weekly basis for use on the PHS/SPCA website and other adoption websites and/or to photograph special events and programs for use in media and press releases.

TIME COMMITMENT: Volunteers who photograph our adoptable animals are needed a few hours each week. Volunteers who take photos for special promotions or at our special events are needed a few hours a quarter.

DUTIES: Take photos of available animals depending on completed TLC training, i.e. Dogs, cats, small animals. Photos can be taken anytime, and then uploaded into the PHS/SPCA Google drive ideally within 24 hours of taking the photos.

TRAINING: All volunteers, whether working from home or at the shelter, should attend a new volunteer orientation. Photographers must complete TLC training for dogs, cats, small animals or exotics. Lastly, volunteers meet with Communications Manager for a photography shadow.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have digital camera or smart phone camera with the ability to take high-resolution photos and access to email.  Also, should be knowledgeable about Google drive, or be willing to be trained on using Google drive. Must be at least 16 years of age.

EMOTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Occasionally one of the adoptable animals from the website is removed because they become too sick or have an untreatable behavior issue and they are euthanized. This happens only when all options have been exhausted.
