Find your forever friend at our Center for Compassion in Burlingame, where we have dogs, cats, small animals, and exotic animals available for adoption.

At this time we are not training new volunteers due to COVID-19. We are hopeful that we will be able to schedule New Volunteer Orientation dates by early 2021. In the meantime, please complete an application, and continue to check this website for updates.

PHS/SPCA receives no funding from national groups. Donations made to us stay here to help animals in our community. Your gift makes a difference!

The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA’s Pet of the Week is Zen.

Need some extra Zen in your life? Look no further than Zen the cat. Zen is a four-year-old neutered male domestic shorthair with mesmerizing azure eyes and gloriously soft orange and white fur. Like his namesake, Zen prefers a quiet and peaceful home. He’s quite shy at the moment and would do best in a home with no children under the age of 12 or other animals. Zen is simply hoping to connect with someone who is patient, understanding and willing to give him some time to come out of his shell. Once he’s comfortable, this sweet cat will make a purrfect gentle companion. Ready for some feline tranquility? Ask for Zen ID# A882740.  Please call 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment to meet Zen.

Join us for our Virtual PEP Talk: Caring for your Rabbit with Cathy Goldschmidt
Friday, March 26th from Noon-1:30pm
Cathy Goldschmidt has been a rabbit volunteer at PHS/SPCA for more than 20 years. She joins us to present about the exciting world of rabbit ownership, provide information about proper rabbit care, and troubleshoot behavior issues. There will be time at the end of her presentation to ask questions that you may have about your own rabbit. This is a wonderful opportunity for rabbit owners to expand upon their knowledge and potential adopters to prepare for a new rabbit.
This is a free event but donations are accepted. To register for this virtual event please contact Kylynn Pelkey at or 650-340-7022 x369.
