\n\nWhen your compan ion animal dies\, it’s natural to feel grief and sadness\, even depression . Our free support group is designed to offer anyone grieving the death\, loss or terminal illness of a beloved companion animal. Led by a professio nal counselor\, our group meets the second Thursday of each month\, from 7 -8:30 pm. The group usually ranges in size from 6 to 12 participants. Some people come once or twice\, others four or five times. Participants need not be PHS/SPCA adopters and are not required to sign up for the class.

PHS/SPCA occasionally takes animals and ado ptions on the road. A group of volunteers and staff take adoptable dogs\, cats\, and small animals to locations throughout San Mateo County. All dog s are on-leash while cats and small animals are secured in kennels. Adopti ons can be done on the spot\, and in most cases you are able to bring the animal home that day.
\nAlthough we are showcasing our animals in ho pes of finding permanent homes for them\, we are also there to answer ques tions about PHS/SPCA services and other animal related questions. Please f eel more than welcome to stop by and say hello!

Join Chef Lisa Books-Williams and Doctor Debra Sh apiro for a 3 hour workshop where you will watch and learn how to easily p repare health-promoting\, delectable food. Learn the benefits of plant-bas ed eating from both a medical doctor and a chef. Get your questions about plant-based nutrition answered by a physician expert. In Ithis class you will learn how odor works and how to create unique puzzles for your dog to solve\, while improving y our own handling and observation skills. This class builds on the foundati on set in Nosework for Beginners and introduces your dog to the first targ et odor of Birch. Dogs are also challenged with new search areas to improv e their problem solving skills and aid in building their drive and confide nce.
