Birdwatching for Beginners

Join us as we explore the rich birdlife of San Francisco Bay with local birding expert, Dorian Anderson. This educational event will feature discussions of identification, natural history, and conservation. Bring your binoculars, and we’ll provide a telescope to aid the viewing enjoyment. This event requires prolonged walking and standing, wear comfortable shoes.

Cancelled Shelter Tales @ Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA

Shelter Tales offers children ages 8-12 the opportunity to earn community service hours by reading to shelter dogs and cats at our Lantos Center for Compassion. This enriching opportunity for both youth and adoptable animals is aimed at boosting humane education, improving reading skills, and soothing pets in the presence of children. The program is held on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10-11am. There is a $10 dollar fee per session and reading books are included.

Mr. Moo’s Storytime @ Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA

Visit our adoption center with your little one for Mr. Moo’s Storytime on the first Monday of each month at 11:00 am. Children will learn about different animal species through puppet interactions, music, and stories read aloud. This is a free program hosted on the second floor at our Lantos Center for Compassion, 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame. New volunteers, please signup online to attend this orientation. Existing volunteers please contact Volunteer Services by clicking here.

Space is limited, so please choose only one date that is convenient for you. If you would like to attend an orientation date that is already full, you can come to that orientation and try for a Drop-In seat. If we have space available due to no-shows or cancellations, you are welcome to stay. If there’s no room, you will have to leave and try for another date.
