Companion Dog Level 1 is for dogs 6 months and older as well as graduates of Puppy Preschool and/or Kindergarten. Whether you’ve just adopted and want to get off on the right paw or need a refresher, this class is for you. You will learn various hand signals and commands, such as sit, down, come, heel, stay, and leave it, and teach your dog to wait at doorways and walk politely on leash. Proof of current DHPP and Rabies vaccinations is required.
Wednesdays, starting August 21st from 7:30-8:30 pm
Presented by American Safety & Health Institute certified instructor Peter Pay, this hands-on workshop teaches basic lifesaving techniques and preparedness, including basic pet first aid, CPR training, rescue breathing, restraint and muzzling, choking management, poison response, and much more. Included in the First Aid & CPR workshop is a first aid workbook and completion certificate.
Please leave your animals at home. “Resus-a-dog” and “Resus-a-cat” mannequins will be available for hands-on training.

Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA presents Bay Area naturalist Janet Kessler, who will speak about the fascinating lives of urban coyotes and what she’s learned in 13 years of studying them.
Register for this event to gain an inside view into the lifestyle and behavior of wild coyotes that have crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and made their home in the urban environment. Learn to better appreciate these fascinating animals and how to safely share our communities with them.

Birdwatching for Beginners
Join us as we explore the rich birdlife of San Francisco Bay with local birding expert, Dorian Anderson. This educational event will feature discussions of identification, natural history, and conservation. Bring your binoculars, and we’ll provide a telescope to aid the viewing enjoyment. This event requires prolonged walking and standing, wear comfortable shoes.

We hold Vaccination Clinics on the first Wednesday of every month from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in our auditorium, unless the 1st Wednesday falls on a holiday. These low-cost clinics provide vaccinations for rabies, canine distemper, FVRCP and DHPP, as well as microchips — a permanent form of companion animal identification. For more information, please call 650-340-7022 ext. 665. The clinic is held at the 12 Airport Blvd., San Mateo location.
