Shelter Tales offers children ages 8-12 the opportunity to earn community service hours by reading to shelter dogs and cats at our Lantos Center for Compassion. This enriching opportunity for both youth and adoptable animals is aimed at boosting humane education, improving reading skills, and soothing pets in the presence of children. The program is held on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10-11am. There is a $10 dollar fee per session and reading books are included.

Attend our Santa Claws workshop and unleash your inner elf. Help us make the holidays special for all our shelter pets by creating handmade gifts for each animal to open on Christmas morning. We provide cookies, cocoa, candy canes and crafting supplies…you bring along the CHEER!

Visit our adoption center with your little one for Mr. Moo’s Storytime on the first Monday of each month at 11:00 am. Children will learn about different animal species through puppet interactions, music, and stories read aloud. This is a free program hosted on the second floor at our Lantos Center for Compassion, 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame.
