Visit our adoption center with your little one for Mr. Moo’s Storytime on the first Monday of each month at 11:00 am. Children will learn about different animal species through puppet interactions, music, and stories read aloud. This is a free program hosted on the second floor at our Lantos Center for Compassion, 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame. Shelter Tales offers children ages 8-12 the opportunity to earn community service hours by reading to shelter dogs and cats at our Lantos Center for Compassion. This enriching opportunity for both youth and adoptable animals is aimed at boosting humane education, improving reading skills, and soothing pets in the presence of children. The program is held on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10-11am. There is a $10 dollar fee per session and reading books are included.

Intro to Odor is the next step after completing Nosework for Beginners! In Ithis class you will learn how odor works and how to create unique puzzles for your dog to solve, while improving your own handling and observation skills. This class builds on the foundation set in Nosework for Beginners and introduces your dog to the first target odor of Birch. Dogs are also challenged with new search areas to improve their problem solving skills and aid in building their drive and confidence.
Prerequisite: completion of Nosework for Beginners, or permission from instructor.
Frequency and Duration:
Mondays, starting July 8 at 6:15 pm
This is a 1.5 hour (90 minutes) per week class held for 6 weeks.
Companion Dog Level 1 is for dogs 6 months and older as well as graduates of Puppy Preschool and/or Kindergarten. Whether you’ve just adopted and want to get off on the right paw or need a refresher, this class is for you. You will learn various hand signals and commands, such as sit, down, come, heel, stay, and leave it, and teach your dog to wait at doorways and walk politely on leash. Proof of current DHPP and Rabies vaccinations is required.
Tuesdays, starting July 9th from 7:30-8:30 pm

Space is limited, so please choose only one date that is convenient for you. If you would like to attend an orientation date that is already full, you can come to that orientation and try for a Drop-In seat. If we have space available due to no-shows or cancellations, you are welcome to stay. If there’s no room, you will have to leave and try for another date.
Puppy preschool is for puppies 2-4 months old and provides a foundation for a lifetime of good habits. This class introduces topics like house training, crate training and puppy handling, and will cover how to correct behaviors like biting, chewing and jumping, plus supervised socialization (off-leash playtime to teach puppies how to play with other dogs.)
Puppies must have had at least 1 DHPP vaccine to attend.
Saturdays, starting July 13th from 12:00-1:00 pm

Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies 4-6 months old and will build on the foundation laid in Puppy Preschool! This class expands on topics like socialization and appropriate play, and begins laying the framework for recall, more impulse control, and basic commands, along with supervised socialization (off-leash playtime to teach puppies how to play with other dogs.)
Puppies must have had at least 2 DHPP vaccines to attend. If older than 5 months, a rabies vaccine is also needed.
Thursdays, starting July 18th from 6:15-7:15 pm
