"Birds in Big Cities" with Stephanie Ellis, Silicon Valley Audubon Society Executive Director
Thursday, November 13th, 2014 | 7:00pm - 8:30 pm
1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame

A special lecture on two topics:

The Western Burrowing Owl: Reversing the Downward Trend Learn about this pint-sized owl in peril. Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society has monitored and enhanced owl habitat on a designated Burrowing Owl preserve in San Jose, where we are finally beginning to see a reverse in the trend of their declining local populations. Learn the natural history of these beautiful owls of San Francisco Bay.

Bird-Safe Building Design - Safe Birds in Big Cities: It is estimated that hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of birds are killed annually in the United States due to collisions with reflective windows on buildings. Learn how Santa Clara Valley Audubon has been working with major cities and large corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area to encourage them to adopt bird-safe building alternatives. We’re working to ensure that a safe path is paved for birds in big cities with some impressive outcomes!
